Power of Attorney Refunds

If you paid a Power of Attorney registration fee between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017, you could be due a refund of up to £54, the Government has announced.

It is estimated that 1.8 million people were overcharged during a period when despite running costs for the Office of the Public Guardian fell, the fee was not reduced accordingly.

You can make a claim if you are the donor (the person who made the power of attorney) or an attorney (appointed by the donor in the power of attorney).

You can claim your refund online at www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney-refund, or by calling 0300 456 0300.
