Mowbray Woodwards Legal Eagles Sponsor Minerva’s Owls of Bath
This summer Bath is set to host a flock of 85 specially designed Owl sculptures to celebrate the city’s Roman heritage and raise funds for local charities. Mowbray Woodwards is thrilled to sponsor one of the super-sized 1.1 metre tall Owls, which will perch near their office in Queen Square.
The Mowbray Woodwards Owl has been designed and created by Nyamachomastapeace, a collaboration between two friends and conceptual Bristol-based artists - one of whom is a lawyer at Mowbray Woodwards. The duo have been producing art together for 17 years including street art and conceptual collages. This marks their Bath debut, before exhibiting at the famous Urban Paint Festival Upfest in Bristol this summer.
The Mowbray Woodwards owl design is a satirical and comical reminder of where the right to make a choice, and the right to freedom of expression comes from. Latin, Roman law, and the right to free expression are as old as the baths that make Bath world famous. The text on the owl is taken from the famous Monty Python sketch and translates to “Romans go home”! It is purposefully multifaceted so the viewer can draw on it what they will.
Tracey Smith, Managing Partner at Mowbray Woodwards, said “We are delighted to be a part of Minerva’s Owls of Bath, which is sure to be a popular event. Supporting local charities, bringing visitors to Bath and celebrating top creative talent - all on our doorstep - is very exciting.”
Mowbray Woodwards will be running a competition for visitors to the sculpture trail, which starts at the end of June. Visit the Mowbray Woodwards Instagram page for more details and a special preview of #Brian the Owl
